Amlodipine Benzoate falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Artichoke interacts with.

Theoretically, artichoke leaf extract may increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
A meta-analysis of small clinical studies in patients with hypertension shows that taking artichoke can reduce systolic blood pressure by around 3 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by around 2 mmHg when compared with placebo.

Here's the simple version: amlodipine (Katerzia) already does the heavy lifting of lowering your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Artichoke leaf extract may nudge your numbers down a little too, on average about 3 points on the top number and 2 on the bottom. Stacked together, the two could add up and pull your pressure lower than intended.

If that happens, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or notice swelling in your ankles, which is a common amlodipine effect. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical and based on how these things work, not on strong studies, and the artichoke effect is mild. Still, if you take amlodipine and want to try artichoke supplements, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and watch how you feel when standing up.

What Is Amlodipine Used For?

Brand name: Katerzia

Amlodipine treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children aged 6–17 years. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. Sdamlo (oral solution) is specifically indicated for hypertension in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older.

Amlodipine also treats coronary artery disease in adults, including chronic stable angina (chest pain with exertion), vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant angina, caused by coronary artery spasms), and documented coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or significantly reduced heart pumping function.
