Artichoke + Nifedipine
Nifedipine brand names: Procardia XL, Adalat PA, Adalat, Nifedin, Nifed PA, and others.
Artichoke has a moderate interaction with Nifedipine. Theoretically, artichoke leaf extract may increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Nifedipine
Nifedipine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Artichoke interacts with.
A meta-analysis of small clinical studies in patients with hypertension shows that taking artichoke can reduce systolic blood pressure by around 3 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure by around 2 mmHg when compared with placebo.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: nifedipine already relaxes your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down, and artichoke leaf extract may nudge it down a little more on its own. Put them together and the two mild effects could add up, leaving your pressure lower than you'd like.
To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how each one works. In studies, artichoke only lowered blood pressure by a few points (around 3 mmHg up top, 2 mmHg on the bottom), so it's not a dramatic drop. Still, if you notice dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, flushing, or feeling unusually tired, those could be signs your pressure is running low. Nothing to panic over, but it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding artichoke, especially if your blood pressure already runs on the lower side.

Nifedipine Is Linked to Lower Levels of 2 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Nifedipine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Artichoke — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
