Ashitaba + Abemaciclib
Abemaciclib brand name: Verzenio.
We found no known interaction between Ashitaba and Abemaciclib in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Ashitaba and Abemaciclib
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Abemaciclib and Ashitaba in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Abemaciclib
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Abemaciclib is filed under 2 classifications — cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates, oral drugs. Ashitaba has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates (moderate) — and none of Abemaciclib’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Abemaciclib page
“A daily pill for a common form of advanced breast cancer, abemaciclib (Verzenio) only helps when its blood level stays steady, so this list of 138 supplements deserves genuine care. Nearly all of them act on CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that clears abemaciclib, meaning a supplement can push its level up and intensify side effects, or drag…”

About Ashitaba
What is Ashitaba?
- General wellness and longevity
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and cholesterol health
- Digestive and stomach support
- Anti-inflammatory
Ashitaba is a leafy plant from Japan that is eaten as a vegetable and taken as a supplement for general health, antioxidant, and heart benefits. Most of the supporting research comes from laboratory and animal studies, so its real benefits in people are still uncertain. It appears generally well tolerated as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.

Ashitaba: dosing
There is no well-established, standardized dose for Ashitaba supplements. Studies have used different forms and amounts, so a single "correct" dose has not been set.If you choose to use an Ashitaba product, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed the recommended amount.

About Abemaciclib
What Is Abemaciclib Used For?
Brand name: Verzenio
Verzenio (abemaciclib) is used to treat adults with hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. For early breast cancer at high risk of returning, Verzenio is taken alongside endocrine therapy (tamoxifen or an aromatase inhibitor) after surgery to help prevent recurrence.
For advanced or metastatic breast cancer, Verzenio can be used in three ways: combined with an aromatase inhibitor as a first hormonal treatment; combined with fulvestrant after the cancer has progressed on prior hormone therapy; or on its own after both hormone therapy and prior chemotherapy have stopped working.
