Banana + Rabeprazole
Rabeprazole brand name: Pariet.
We found no known interaction between Banana and Rabeprazole in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Banana and Rabeprazole
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Rabeprazole and Banana in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Rabeprazole
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Rabeprazole is filed under 9 classifications — including proton pump inhibitors (ppis), cytochrome p450 2c19 (cyp2c19) inhibitors, cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) inducers. Banana has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being levodopa (moderate) — and none of Rabeprazole’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

Questions About Banana or Rabeprazole
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Banana or Rabeprazole, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Rabeprazole
This page covers Banana only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Rabeprazole page lists 172 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Grapefruit (major), St. John's Wort (major), Acacia Rigidula (moderate) and Adrafinil (moderate).
By severity: 3 major · 119 moderate · 50 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Rabeprazole page
“Rabeprazole (Pariet) quiets stomach acid for reflux and ulcers, but its supplement list deserves genuine care, with three serious entries to understand before anything else. Most items matter because they change how the liver breaks rabeprazole down, so its level can drift up or down.”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Banana
What is Banana?
- Source of potassium and energy
- Digestive health and diarrhea
- Blood pressure support
- Heartburn and stomach ulcers (traditional)
- Weight management
Bananas are a nutritious, widely eaten fruit that provide potassium, fiber, vitamin B6, and quick energy, and they are part of a healthy diet. While some traditional uses (like easing diarrhea or supporting blood pressure) have plausible support, most specific health claims are not strongly proven. For most people bananas are a safe food, but those with kidney problems or a latex-fruit allergy should be cautious.
Musa acuminata · Musaceae · Fruit (most common); peel, flower, and leaves are also used in some traditions · Fresh fruit, dried banana, banana powder, green (unripe) banana flour, smoothies
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Banana is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Banana record says about it on its own.
Banana: dosing
There is no official medicinal dose for bananas. As a food, one to a few bananas per day fits easily into a healthy diet for most people. For banana supplements, powders, or green banana flour, a standardized dose has not been established.

About Rabeprazole
What Is Rabeprazole Used For?
Brand name: Pariet
Rabeprazole delayed-release tablets treat a range of acid-related conditions in adults, including healing and maintenance of erosive or ulcerative GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), symptomatic GERD, duodenal ulcers, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. They are also used alongside antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) to eradicate H. pylori bacteria and reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer coming back.
In adolescents 12 years and older, rabeprazole delayed-release tablets are approved for short-term treatment of symptomatic GERD. Both AcipHex and Rabeprazole Sodium delayed-release tablets share this indication set for adults and adolescents 12 and older.

Rabeprazole Is Linked to Lower Levels of 9 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Rabeprazole as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Banana — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
