Infergen (interferon alfacon-1) is a medication often used to treat chronic hepatitis C, so it's already working hard on a liver that may not be in great shape. The concern here is pretty straightforward: both alcohol and this medication can stress the liver. Drinking beer on top of treatment adds another insult to an organ that's already under pressure, which can raise your risk of liver damage.

On top of that, interferon itself often causes flu-like symptoms, fatigue, and low mood, and alcohol can make some of those feel worse. This isn't about one beer ruining everything, it's mostly about regular or heavier drinking. My honest advice: talk with your doctor or pharmacist about alcohol before you have any while on Infergen.
