PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS
Why this applies to Interferon Alfacon-1
Interferon Alfacon-1 falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Alfalfa interacts with.
Animal research suggests that excessive doses of alfalfa may increase photosensitivity, possibly due to its chlorophyll content. It is unclear if this effect would be clinically relevant in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with alfalfa and Infergen (interferon alfacon-1). Some medicines can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and interferon is on that list. Alfalfa, when taken in large supplement doses, may add a little to that sun sensitivity, mostly because of its chlorophyll content. So in theory, pairing the two could leave you a bit more prone to sunburn or a skin rash than either one alone.
I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical concern based on animal studies, and we don't really know if it matters in people. Eating alfalfa sprouts in a salad is very different from concentrated capsules. Just play it safe with sunscreen and protective clothing, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding alfalfa.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Interferon Alfacon-1 page
“Interferon alfacon-1 (Infergen) treats chronic hepatitis C, a disease of the liver itself, which is exactly why this interaction list deserves real care. Two thirds of the entries, 38 ingredients in all, carry some potential to injure the liver, and adding that strain to an organ already fighting hepatitis is the risk to understand first.”
