Ethinyl Estradiol, Norethindrone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Berberine interacts with.

Theoretically, berberine might increase serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical research show that berberine moderately inhibits CYP3A4. Theoretically, use of berberine with drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 might increase drug levels and increase the risk of adverse effects.

Your birth control pill (and hormone therapy) contains ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone, two hormones your body partly clears using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Berberine can mildly slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that means a bit more hormone could linger in your bloodstream, which might nudge up the usual estrogen-related side effects like nausea, breast tenderness, bloating, headaches, or spotting.

I want to be honest that this is mostly a theoretical concern based on lab and early human data, so it is not something to panic over. The hormones aren't prodrugs, so this wouldn't make your pill stop working. Still, if you'd like to add berberine, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on how you feel.
