ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Butalbital
Aspirin, Butalbital falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Bilberry interacts with.
In vitro, animal, and clinical research suggest that anthocyanidin extracts from bilberry can inhibit platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your Axotal combines aspirin with butalbital. The piece that matters here is the aspirin, which already thins the blood by keeping platelets from clumping together. Bilberry, at least in lab and animal studies, seems to slow platelet activity in a similar way. So when you stack the two, you're pushing in the same direction, and that could nudge up your risk of bruising or bleeding.
In real life, think easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or a cut that takes longer to stop. To be clear, this is a theoretical concern based on weak evidence, and food amounts of bilberry are unlikely to be a problem. Concentrated supplements are where I'd be a little cautious. Chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

About Bilberry
What is Bilberry?
- Eye and vision health
- Antioxidant support
- Diarrhea and digestive upset
- Circulation and vein health
- Blood sugar support
Bilberry is a blueberry-like fruit rich in antioxidant plant compounds called anthocyanins, and it has a long history of traditional use for eye health, circulation, and mild diarrhea. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using bilberry supplements, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a health condition.
