Theoretically, bilberry fruit extract might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro, animal, and clinical research suggest that anthocyanidin extracts from bilberry can inhibit platelet aggregation.

Here's the simple version: Plavix (clopidogrel) is a blood thinner that works by stopping your platelets from sticking together and forming clots. Bilberry, in concentrated supplement form, may do a little of that same thing on its own thanks to compounds called anthocyanins. Stack the two together and you could, in theory, get more of a blood-thinning effect than you bargained for, which means a higher chance of bruising easily, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.

That said, the evidence here is weak and mostly from lab and animal studies, so this isn't a reason to panic. Eating bilberries or blueberries in normal food amounts is very unlikely to cause trouble. The caution is really about concentrated extracts. Before adding a bilberry supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Clopidogrel Used For?

Clopidogrel tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — including unstable angina and non-ST-elevation or ST-elevation heart attacks — and in people with a history of recent heart attack, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease. For ACS, it is typically given alongside aspirin.

It works by preventing platelets (blood cells that trigger clotting) from clumping together, which helps keep arteries open and lowers the chance of a dangerous clot forming.
