Here's the thing with Golimumab (Simponi Aria): it's a biologic that purposely dials down part of your immune system to calm conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. Black seed is interesting because in lab dishes and animal studies it has gone both directions, sometimes revving the immune system up and other times quieting it down. If it nudges your immune activity upward, it could in theory work against what golimumab is trying to do, meaning your joint pain, swelling, or stiffness might not stay as controlled.

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This is theoretical and based only on test-tube and animal work, not on people taking these two together. Cooking with black seed as a spice is very unlikely to matter. Before starting a concentrated black seed supplement alongside your golimumab, just run it by your pharmacist or rheumatologist.

What Is Golimumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Simponi Aria

Golimumab injection is used to treat several inflammatory conditions. Simponi (subcutaneous) is approved for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis (in combination with methotrexate), active psoriatic arthritis, active ankylosing spondylitis, and moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 15 kg.

Simponi Aria (intravenous) is used for adults with moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis. Both products target the same inflammation pathway but are given by different routes and are each approved for specific conditions — they are not interchangeable across all uses.
