Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Golimumab
Golimumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Ashwagandha interacts with.
Ashwagandha has demonstrated immunostimulant effects in humans. Animal research has shown that ashwagandha can attenuate the immunosuppression caused by cyclophosphamide.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea with Golimumab (Simponi Aria). This is a biologic medicine that works by calming down an overactive immune system, which is how it eases the joint pain, swelling, and stiffness of conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. Ashwagandha, on the other hand, may gently rev up immune activity. So in theory, the herb could push against what golimumab is trying to do and make it work a little less well, meaning your symptoms might not stay as controlled.
I want to be honest, though: this concern comes mostly from lab and animal studies, not strong human data, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Golimumab isn't a prodrug, and ashwagandha doesn't change how it's cleared. Still, since you're managing an autoimmune condition, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding ashwagandha.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Golimumab page
“Echinacea is the entry I would flag first, since it is the immune booster people reach for at the first sniffle, and immune stimulation is exactly what golimumab (Simponi Aria) is designed to dial down.
