Glipizide, Metformin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Carqueja interacts with.

Theoretically, carqueja might lower blood glucose levels and might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs. This might increase the risk of hypoglycemia in some patients. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Your Metaglip tablet combines two diabetes medicines: glipizide, which nudges your pancreas to release more insulin, and metformin, which lowers the sugar your liver makes. Both bring your blood sugar down. Carqueja, the bitter South American herb, may also gently lower blood sugar on its own. Stack the two together and you could end up lower than you intended.

If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, hungry, or confused. Glipizide is the bigger concern here, since sulfonylureas can drop sugar more sharply than metformin alone. Honestly, this is only a theoretical worry based on lab and animal work, not strong human studies. Still, if you want to try carqueja, check your blood sugar more often and run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.
