Alogliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cassia Auriculata interacts with.

Theoretically, Cassia auriculata may reduce blood glucose levels and might have additive effects on glucose levels when used with antidiabetes drugs. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Medication dose adjustments may be necessary. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version: Cassia auriculata may have its own mild blood sugar lowering effect. When you stack that on top of alogliptin (Nesina), the two could add up and push your numbers lower than you intended. This isn't about the supplement changing how alogliptin is broken down. It's just two things nudging blood sugar in the same direction.

If your sugar drops too far, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, hungry, or confused. I'll be honest with you though: this caution comes mostly from lab and animal research, not strong human studies, so it's more of a theoretical concern. Alogliptin alone rarely causes lows, but the combo is worth watching. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, and monitor your blood sugar closely.

Alogliptin is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, as it would not be effective in those situations.
