ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Terazosin
Terazosin falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Ceylon Cinnamon interacts with.
Animal research shows that Ceylon cinnamon extract has vasorelaxant properties and reduces blood pressure in rat models of hypertension, possibly via inhibition of calcium influx through L-type voltage-sensitive channels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: terazosin already lowers blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels, and animal studies hint that concentrated Ceylon cinnamon may nudge blood pressure down a little too. Put them together and the two effects could add up, which means a slightly higher chance of your pressure dipping too low.
What that might feel like with terazosin is dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint, especially when you stand up quickly (terazosin is already known for this, sometimes called the 'first-dose effect'). The good news is this interaction is theoretical and based only on lab and animal research, not strong human data. A sprinkle of cinnamon on your oatmeal almost certainly won't matter; concentrated supplement doses are the real question. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a cinnamon supplement.

About Ceylon Cinnamon
What is Ceylon Cinnamon?
- Blood sugar support
- High cholesterol
- Indigestion and gas
- Antimicrobial
- General flavoring and culinary use
Ceylon cinnamon is the so-called 'true' cinnamon, valued as a spice and used in traditional medicine for blood sugar, cholesterol, and digestion. Evidence for most health benefits is limited and mixed, but as a food it is generally safe and contains far less coumarin than common cassia cinnamon. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated supplements, especially if you have a health condition or take medications.
About Terazosin
What Is Terazosin Used For?
Brand names: Hytrin, Terazosin
Terazosin capsules and Tezruly oral solution are both used to relieve the urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — the enlarged prostate condition that causes trouble urinating — in adult males. They are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.
Lowering blood pressure with terazosin reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. Tezruly (the oral solution) may be used alone or alongside other antihypertensive agents for hypertension.

Terazosin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Terazosin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Ceylon Cinnamon — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
