Here's the simple version: Xigduo XR combines dapagliflozin and metformin, two medicines that already work to lower your blood sugar. Chicory isn't a prodrug situation, and it doesn't change how these two drugs are broken down. The concern is just additive: lab and animal studies hint that chicory may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own, so stacking it on top of your diabetes meds could theoretically nudge your sugar a little lower.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical, based on pharmacology and not solid human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Coffee-substitute amounts are very unlikely to matter. If you take concentrated inulin supplements, just keep an eye out for low-sugar signs (shakiness, sweating, dizziness) and check in with your pharmacist or doctor.
