ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Sotagliflozin
Sotagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Chicory interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research shows that chicory extracts have antidiabetic effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: Sotagliflozin (Inpefa) already works to lower your blood sugar, and chicory might nudge it a little lower too. Some lab and animal studies hint that chicory extracts have blood-sugar-lowering effects of their own. Stack that on top of your medication, and in theory you could dip into low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) a bit more easily. Signs to watch for include shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling suddenly hungry or confused.
The honest truth is this concern is theoretical, based on pharmacology rather than solid human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Enjoying chicory as a coffee substitute is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you use concentrated chicory supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on your readings.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Sotagliflozin page
“If you take sotagliflozin (Inpefa) for heart failure or diabetes, read this list carefully before adding any supplement, and start with the two rated major. Siberian cocklebur has caused severe low blood sugar in humans, and activated charcoal can pull the drug out of your system before it does its job.”

About Chicory
What is Chicory?
- Constipation and digestive health
- Source of prebiotic fiber (inulin)
- Coffee substitute
- Liver and gallbladder support
- Appetite and blood sugar (traditional)
Chicory is best known as a caffeine-free coffee substitute and as a source of inulin, a soluble prebiotic fiber that may support digestion and regularity. Strong human evidence for most other traditional uses (like liver, gallbladder, or skin conditions) is limited. It is generally well tolerated, but the inulin can cause gas and bloating, and people allergic to ragweed or related plants should be cautious.
