Ketoprofen falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyll interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.

Here's the angle to keep in mind with this pairing. Ketoprofen is one of those NSAIDs that's already known for making your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so a sunny afternoon can sometimes leave you with an exaggerated sunburn, a rash, or itchy red patches even with normal sun exposure. Chlorophyll supplements have also been linked to sun sensitivity, including a couple of rare reports of a sunburn-like skin reaction called pseudoporphyria.

So the concern isn't about either one building up in your blood. It's that both can nudge your skin toward reacting to light, and using them together could add up. This is mostly theoretical and based on a few case reports, so don't panic. Just be smart about sunscreen and covering up, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Ketoprofen Used For?

Brand names: Orudis, Oruvail Gel, Powergel, Oruvail Injection

Ketoprofen capsules (including the brand Orudis) are used to manage the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, to treat pain, and to treat primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods).

Ketoprofen extended-release capsules are approved for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis only. Because of the way they slowly release the drug, ketoprofen extended-release capsules are not recommended for treating acute (sudden) pain.
