Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyll interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.

Here's the thing to know about this pairing: it isn't about how your body breaks down your Aristada injection. This is a skin-related concern. Chlorophyll has, in a couple of rare case reports, made people more sensitive to sunlight. Aripiprazole can do the same thing for some folks, so taking both together could, in theory, add up and leave your skin more prone to sunburn, rashes, or redness after time outdoors.

I want to be honest that this is mostly a theoretical concern based on limited reports, not something that happens to everyone. It won't change how well your medication treats your symptoms. To stay safe, use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit strong midday sun. Before starting any chlorophyll supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
