Laboratory research suggests that eugenol, a constituent of clove, has antiplatelet activity. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for clove and Fondaparinux (Arixtra). Fondaparinux is an injectable blood thinner that lowers your blood's clotting ability by blocking a clotting protein called factor Xa. Clove contains eugenol, and in lab studies eugenol has shown some ability to keep platelets (the cells that help form clots) from sticking together. Stacking something that mildly discourages clotting on top of a blood thinner could, in theory, add up to a slightly higher bleeding risk.

That said, this is theoretical only. It comes from lab research, not from real people, and it has never actually been reported in humans. Normal cooking amounts of clove are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated clove oil or supplements are a bigger question mark, so watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that won't stop, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using clove medicinally.

Clove is a common cooking spice that is also used in traditional medicine, especially as a topical numbing agent for tooth pain thanks to its main compound, eugenol. About Fondaparinux Injection

What Is Fondaparinux Injection Used For?

Brand name: Arixtra

Fondaparinux sodium injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) — blood clots that form in the legs — in adults who are having hip fracture surgery, hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, or abdominal surgery. Preventing these clots also lowers the risk of a clot traveling to the lungs (pulmonary embolism, or PE).

It is also used to treat acute DVT and acute pulmonary embolism in adults, typically started alongside warfarin. In children aged 1 year and older who weigh at least 10 kg (about 22 lbs), fondaparinux sodium injection is approved to treat venous thromboembolism (VTE) — blood clots in the veins.
