Here's the gist with Celebrex (celecoxib) and coffee charcoal. Like other charcoals, this stuff is porous and may grab onto medications sitting in your gut. If they're in your stomach at the same time, the charcoal could soak up some of your celecoxib before your body absorbs it, so you might get less pain and swelling relief for your arthritis or other aches than you expected.

The good news is this is a theoretical concern based on how charcoal behaves, not strong human data. An easy fix is spacing them apart, taking your celecoxib at least two hours away from the coffee charcoal. Before pairing the two, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so your arthritis stays well controlled.

What Is Celecoxib Used For?

Brand names: Celebrex, Elyxyb

Celecoxib capsules and the generic oral suspension treat the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (AS), and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) in children 2 years and older. Celecoxib capsules also treat acute pain and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods) in adults.

ELYXYB (celecoxib oral liquid) is specifically approved for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults — but it is not used to prevent migraines. VYSCOXA (celecoxib oral suspension) is not indicated for acute pain or primary dysmenorrhea.
