ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Clomiphene
Clomiphene falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Coffee Charcoal interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: coffee charcoal acts a bit like activated charcoal in your gut. Its porous surface can grab onto things you swallow, and that includes Clomiphene. If you take the two close together, the charcoal may bind some of the medication before your body absorbs it, so less of your dose actually gets into your system.
That matters because Clomiphene is timed carefully to trigger ovulation during your cycle. Getting a smaller dose than intended could make it less effective at doing its job. The good news is this concern is theoretical, based on how charcoal behaves rather than proven studies. To stay safe, separate them by at least two hours, and check with your fertility doctor or pharmacist before mixing the two.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clomiphene page
“Clomiphene (Clomid, Serophene) is taken as a short, precisely timed course to trigger ovulation, so anything that weakens a dose can cost someone trying to conceive a whole cycle. That is why the 17 supplements listed here deserve genuine care, since every one of them can change how much of the pill the gut actually absorbs.”

About Coffee Charcoal
What is Coffee Charcoal?
- Diarrhea
- Inflammatory bowel conditions
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Mild digestive upset
- Wound and skin care (topical, traditional)
Coffee charcoal is made by roasting green coffee beans until they turn black, creating a charcoal-like material used traditionally for diarrhea and digestive complaints. Scientific evidence supporting its benefits is very limited, and it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a chronic gut condition.
About Clomiphene
What Is Clomiphene Used For?
Brand names: Serophene, Clomid
Clomiphene tablets are indicated for women who are not ovulating normally and want to become pregnant. It is most likely to help women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome, psychogenic amenorrhea, post-oral-contraceptive amenorrhea, and certain cases of secondary amenorrhea (absent periods of unknown cause).
Before starting treatment, other barriers to pregnancy — such as thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, high prolactin levels, or male factor infertility — must be ruled out or treated. Clomiphene is not recommended for use in combination with other ovulation-inducing drugs or for IVF programs, and it is not approved for treating male infertility.
