Here's the simple version. Coffee charcoal acts a bit like activated charcoal in your gut, meaning its porous surface can grab onto things you swallow, including your Vumerity. If you take them at the same time, the charcoal may soak up some of the medication before your body can absorb it, so you could end up with less drug in your system than you need to keep your MS well controlled.

One thing to keep in mind: this concern is based on how charcoal behaves in general, not on a specific study with diroximel fumarate, so it's theoretical. The easy fix is timing. Separating the two by at least a couple of hours helps a lot. Please run this by your pharmacist or doctor first so your treatment stays on track.
