ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Duloxetine
Duloxetine falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Coffee Charcoal interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the gist with coffee charcoal and your duloxetine (Cymbalta). Charcoal-type products are porous and tend to grab onto things sitting in your stomach and intestines. If you swallow them around the same time, the charcoal may soak up some of your duloxetine before your body can absorb it. That means less medication actually getting into you.
For duloxetine, weaker absorption could mean your depression, anxiety, or nerve pain isn't as well controlled. To be safe, it's smart to separate them by at least a couple of hours. Keep in mind this concern is based on how charcoal works in theory, not strong studies. Before mixing the two, run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

About Coffee Charcoal
What is Coffee Charcoal?
- Diarrhea
- Inflammatory bowel conditions
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Mild digestive upset
- Wound and skin care (topical, traditional)
Coffee charcoal is made by roasting green coffee beans until they turn black, creating a charcoal-like material used traditionally for diarrhea and digestive complaints. Scientific evidence supporting its benefits is very limited, and it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a chronic gut condition.

Duloxetine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Duloxetine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Coffee Charcoal — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
