ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Sotorasib
Sotorasib falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Coffee Charcoal interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: coffee charcoal acts a bit like activated charcoal, with a porous surface that can grab onto things in your gut. If you swallow it close to your sotorasib (Lumakras) dose, it may bind some of the medicine before your body absorbs it. That means less drug gets into your bloodstream, which could quietly weaken how well it fights your lung cancer. This isn't about extra side effects, it's about possibly getting less benefit from a cancer drug you really need working at full strength.
This concern comes from how charcoal behaves in general, not from a specific study on sotorasib, so it's theoretical. Still, with a cancer therapy I'd play it safe. Please ask your oncologist or pharmacist before combining them, and don't stop either on your own.

This page covers Coffee Charcoal only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Sotorasib page lists 180 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Beer (major), Grapefruit (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major) and St. John's Wort (major).
By severity: 6 major · 137 moderate · 37 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Sotorasib page
“Grapefruit is the first thing I would drop while on sotorasib (Lumakras), a targeted lung cancer pill cleared by the CYP3A4 enzyme. Grapefruit blocks that enzyme and can push sotorasib levels up; St.”

About Coffee Charcoal
What is Coffee Charcoal?
- Diarrhea
- Inflammatory bowel conditions
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Mild digestive upset
- Wound and skin care (topical, traditional)
Coffee charcoal is made by roasting green coffee beans until they turn black, creating a charcoal-like material used traditionally for diarrhea and digestive complaints. Scientific evidence supporting its benefits is very limited, and it should not replace proven treatments. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have a chronic gut condition.
