Here's some good news for you. The interaction we have on file warns that coffee charcoal can grab onto medicines in your stomach and gut, which lowers how much drug your body absorbs. But Unoprostone (Rescula) is not a pill you swallow. It's eye drops that you place directly into your eye to lower the pressure inside it.

Since coffee charcoal works inside your digestive tract and Unoprostone never really passes through there, the two don't cross paths in any meaningful way. Taking them together shouldn't weaken your eye drops or cause new problems. This concern really applies to oral medicines instead. If you also take any pills, a pharmacist can help you space those out from the charcoal by a couple of hours.

What Is Unoprostone Ophthalmic Used For?

  • Unoprostone ophthalmic is used to treat glaucoma (a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision) and ocular hypertension (a condition which causes increased pressure in the eye). It is in a class of medications called prostaglandin analogs. Unoprostone lowers pressure in the eye by increasing the flow of natural eye fluids out of the eye.
