Primidone already does a good job of slowing down activity in the brain, which is exactly how it calms seizures. The catch is that it can leave you feeling drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet, especially when you first start it. The concern here is that elecampane may have mild sedative effects of its own, so pairing the two could in theory pile on more sleepiness or sluggishness than you would get from the Primidone alone.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical worry based on the herb's properties, not strong human studies, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, since drowsiness can affect your driving and balance, it is worth running it past your pharmacist or doctor before you combine them.

What Is Primidone Used For?

Brand name: Mysoline

Primidone tablets — sold as Mysoline or under the generic name primidone — are used to control seizures in people with epilepsy. Both Mysoline and primidone tablets are approved for grand mal (generalized tonic-clonic), psychomotor, and focal (partial) epileptic seizures.

Primidone can be used alone or alongside other anti-seizure medicines. It may also help control grand mal seizures that haven't responded well to other anticonvulsant treatments.
