This combination headache product (often sold as Isocom) contains isometheptene, which is itself a mild blood-vessel tightener (vasoconstrictor) used to ease migraines. Ergot also strongly narrows blood vessels. Stack the two together and you can get an additive squeezing effect, meaning more constriction than either alone.

In real terms, that could show up as a pounding headache that does not ease, cold or tingling fingers and toes, numbness, leg cramping, or noticeably higher blood pressure. The evidence here is mostly anecdotal, so this is not a guaranteed reaction, but the direction of risk is clear and worth respecting. Keep in mind raw ergot is genuinely toxic and should not be taken as a supplement at all. Please run any ergot-type product past your pharmacist or doctor before combining it with Isocom.

What is Ergot?

Ergot is a toxic fungus that grows on rye and contains powerful chemicals (ergot alkaloids) that strongly narrow blood vessels and squeeze the uterus. Because raw ergot is poisonous and the dose is impossible to control safely, it should never be used as a home remedy or supplement. Some purified ergot chemicals are used as prescription drugs under strict medical supervision, but the crude herb is not safe to take.
