Here's the simple version: both ergot and amphetamine tighten up your blood vessels. Amphetamine (Evekeo, Benzedrine) is a stimulant that revs up your system, raising heart rate and blood pressure and narrowing vessels. Ergot alkaloids squeeze blood vessels hard too. Stack them together and those effects can add up, which is the worry here.

In real life that could mean higher blood pressure, a racing or pounding heart, headache, and cold or tingly hands and feet from reduced blood flow. To be fair, this is rated moderate and rests on anecdotal reports, so it's a caution, not a guarantee. Honestly, raw ergot shouldn't be used as a supplement at all since it's toxic. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining anything like this.

What is Ergot?

Ergot is a toxic fungus that grows on rye and contains powerful chemicals (ergot alkaloids) that strongly narrow blood vessels and squeeze the uterus. Because raw ergot is poisonous and the dose is impossible to control safely, it should never be used as a home remedy or supplement. Some purified ergot chemicals are used as prescription drugs under strict medical supervision, but the crude herb is not safe to take.
