Why this applies to Ropinirole

Ropinirole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Eurycoma Longifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version. Your body clears ropinirole mainly through a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In test-tube studies, tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia) appears to weakly slow that same enzyme down. If that were to happen in real life, ropinirole could clear a little slower and build up slightly, which might mean stronger effects or more side effects like nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness when standing, or even sudden sleepiness.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is purely a theoretical concern based on lab data, and it hasn't been seen in actual people. Ropinirole is an active drug, not a prodrug, so the direction would be more effect, not less. To stay safe, just mention this combo to your pharmacist or doctor before starting.

What Is Ropinirole Used For?

Brand names: Requip, Adartrel

Ropinirole tablets are used to treat two conditions: Parkinson's disease and moderate-to-severe primary Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) — the uncomfortable urge to move the legs, especially at night or at rest.

Ropinirole extended-release tablets are indicated specifically for Parkinson's disease only. If you take the extended-release form, it is not approved for RLS — that use applies to the regular (immediate-release) tablets.
