Grape + Ropinirole
Ropinirole brand names: Requip, Adartrel.
Grape has a moderate interaction with Ropinirole. Theoretically, grape juice might reduce the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ropinirole
Ropinirole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Grape interacts with.
A small pharmacokinetic study in healthy adults shows that ingestion of 200 mL of grape juice decreases phenacetin plasma levels. This is thought to be due to induction of CYP1A2.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for ropinirole (Requip): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to break this medicine down. There's some early research suggesting grape juice may actually speed that enzyme up a little. If that happens, ropinirole could get cleared faster than usual, and you might notice it working less well, meaning more shaking, stiffness, or restless legs symptoms creeping back in.
I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from one small study using a different medication, and the effect was modest. A few grapes or a normal glass of juice almost certainly won't matter. If you're considering a concentrated grape supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first so they can keep an eye on how well your ropinirole is controlling symptoms.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ropinirole page
“Activated charcoal deserves the closest look on this page. It is the only one of the 101 entries rated major against ropinirole (Requip, Adartrel), because charcoal can bind the drug in the gut and shrink the amount that actually reaches you, and for someone relying on ropinirole for Parkinson's disease or restless legs, that can mean…”

About Grape
What is Grape?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and circulation health
- Vein problems (such as varicose veins)
- Eye health
- General anti-inflammatory support
Grapes and grape products like grape seed extract contain antioxidant compounds such as resveratrol and proanthocyanidins that may support heart and blood vessel health. While the food is healthy and generally safe, the supplement evidence for treating specific conditions is mostly limited or preliminary. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a grape supplement.
About Ropinirole
What Is Ropinirole Used For?
Brand names: Requip, Adartrel
Ropinirole tablets are used to treat two conditions: Parkinson's disease and moderate-to-severe primary Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) — the uncomfortable urge to move the legs, especially at night or at rest.
Ropinirole extended-release tablets are indicated specifically for Parkinson's disease only. If you take the extended-release form, it is not approved for RLS — that use applies to the regular (immediate-release) tablets.
