Ropinirole falls under DOPAMINE AGONISTS — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might have additive effects when used with dopamine agonists.
Ayahuasca contains the beta-carboline constituent harmine. Animal research shows that harmine increases extracellular dopamine levels.

Here's the gist for ropinirole (Requip): it works by mimicking dopamine in your brain to ease Parkinson's symptoms or restless legs. Ayahuasca contains harmine, and in animal studies that compound nudges dopamine levels up. So in theory, pairing the two could pile on extra dopamine-like activity rather than cancel it out.

If that happened, you might see more of ropinirole's typical effects: nausea, dizziness, lightheadedness when standing, drowsiness or sudden sleepiness, hallucinations, or unusual urges (like gambling or impulsive behavior). Honestly though, this is only a theoretical concern based on how the chemistry lines up, not proven cases in people. Ayahuasca also carries its own serious risks. Ropinirole extended-release tablets are indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease only. For RLS, the immediate-release tablet form is used.
