Why this applies to Zopiclone

Zopiclone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might increase plasma concentrations of CYP3A4 substrates.
Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids. In vitro research suggests that beta-carboline alkaloids competitively inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for zopiclone, that sleep aid you take at bedtime. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it out. Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline compounds that, in lab studies, can slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in your body, more zopiclone could linger, meaning stronger and longer sedation, next-morning grogginess, dizziness, that bitter metallic taste, and a higher risk of feeling unsteady or foggy.

I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from test-tube research and hasn't actually been shown in people, so it's theoretical. That said, ayahuasca on its own is risky and not something to mix casually. Please loop in your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.
