Temazepam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might increase plasma concentrations of CYP3A4 substrates.
Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids. In vitro research suggests that beta-carboline alkaloids competitively inhibit CYP3A4 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your sleep medicine. Temazepam is partly processed by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies hint that compounds in ayahuasca (the beta-carboline alkaloids) can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in your body, temazepam could linger longer and hit harder, meaning more next-day grogginess, deeper drowsiness, dizziness, and slower reaction times.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's only been seen in test-tube research, not in real people, so it's theoretical. That said, ayahuasca is potent and risky on its own, and mixing it with any sedative isn't something to experiment with. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Temazepam capsules — sold as Restoril and under the generic name Temazepam — are indicated for the short-term treatment of insomnia, generally 7 to 10 days. They help people fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
