Grape + Lamotrigine
Lamotrigine brand name: Lamictal.
We found no known interaction between Grape and Lamotrigine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Grape and Lamotrigine
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Lamotrigine and Grape in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.
Grape safety at a glance
Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Lamotrigine
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Lamotrigine is filed under 5 classifications — including anticonvulsants, glucuronidated drugs, cns depressants. Grape has documented interactions with 9 drug classes — the most serious being anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs (moderate), cyclosporine (neoral, sandimmune) (moderate) and cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates (moderate) — and none of Lamotrigine’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Grape Does Interact With Other Medications
Grape has 868 moderate, 42 minor known drug interactions in our database — Lamotrigine isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Lamotrigine page
“Alcohol, ordinary beer or wine, sits at the top of the interaction list for lamotrigine (Lamictal), with well-documented added sedation, and it sets the tone for a list I would treat with real care. Where does our data come from?
- Source: the Natural Medicines (TRC Healthcare) clinical database — the evidence-graded professional reference for herb & supplement interactions.
- Citation library: 103,510 references behind our interaction content, 65,311 of them resolved to verified PubMed/DOI sources. See every Grape reference on this page ↓
- Freshness: we automatically re-check this combination every week — this pair was last verified September 13, 2026. The Grape and Lamotrigine records this page draws on were last updated July 10, 2026.
- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Grape
What is Grape?
- Antioxidant support
- Heart and circulation health
- Vein problems (such as varicose veins)
- Eye health
- General anti-inflammatory support
Grapes and grape products like grape seed extract contain antioxidant compounds such as resveratrol and proanthocyanidins that may support heart and blood vessel health. While the food is healthy and generally safe, the supplement evidence for treating specific conditions is mostly limited or preliminary. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a grape supplement.
Vitis vinifera · Vitaceae · Fruit, skin, seed, and leaves · Fresh fruit, juice, wine, capsules, tablets, grape seed extract, and standardized extracts
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Grape is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Grape record says about it on its own.
Grape: dosing
There is no single official or proven dose for grape supplements. The right amount can depend on the specific product, the form (such as grape seed extract), and how it is standardized.Because products vary widely in strength, the best approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed the recommended amount. They can help you decide whether a grape supplement is appropriate for you.

About Lamotrigine
What Is Lamotrigine Used For?
Brand name: Lamictal
Lamotrigine is used to treat several types of seizures in adults and children aged 2 and older — including partial-onset seizures, generalized tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures, and seizures related to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. In older teens and adults, it can also be used alone (monotherapy) after transitioning off another seizure medicine.
For adults with bipolar I disorder, lamotrigine is used as a maintenance treatment — meaning it helps delay the return of mood episodes like depression, mania, or mixed states. It is not approved to treat an active manic or mixed episode that's happening right now.

Lamotrigine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Lamotrigine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Grape — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
