Pantoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Eurycoma Longifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for tongkat ali and your pantoprazole. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C19 to clear pantoprazole out of your body. In a lab dish, tongkat ali root extract was shown to weakly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, pantoprazole might hang around a bit longer and build up slightly, which could nudge up its usual effects, things like headache, an upset stomach, or diarrhea.

The important part: this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding, and it has never actually been seen in people. Pantoprazole is also a pretty forgiving medicine with a wide safety margin, so this is rated a minor concern. Still, it's worth a quick mention to your pharmacist or doctor before adding the supplement, just so they have the full picture.

About Pantoprazole

What Is Pantoprazole Used For?

Brand names: Protonix, Pantoloc, Protonix IV

Pantoprazole treats erosive esophagitis (damage to the lining of the esophagus) linked to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a long-term condition where stomach acid backs up. It is also used for pathological hypersecretory conditions, including Zollinger-Ellison (ZE) syndrome, where the stomach makes far too much acid.

Which use applies depends on the product. The oral delayed-release tablets and the delayed-release oral suspension (granules), including Protonix, cover short-term healing, maintenance of healing, and the excess-acid conditions. The intravenous (IV) forms, including Protonix I.V., are for adults with GERD and a history of erosive esophagitis for a short time, and for ZE syndrome and similar conditions.
