Why this applies to Anagrelide

Anagrelide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Eurycoma Longifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for anagrelide and tongkat ali. Anagrelide is cleared mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In a test-tube study, eurycoma longifolia weakly blocked that same enzyme. If that held true in people, anagrelide could clear a little more slowly and build up slightly, which in theory might nudge up its common effects like headache, palpitations, a faster heartbeat, fluid retention, or dizziness.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is purely theoretical and based only on lab data, never actually seen in humans, and it's rated as a minor concern. So it's not something to panic over. Still, since anagrelide affects your heart and platelets, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding this supplement so they can keep an eye on you.

Both Agrylin and generic anagrelide capsules are used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms — a condition where bone marrow disorders cause dangerously high platelet counts. The goal is to bring platelet counts down, lower the risk of dangerous blood clots (thrombosis), and ease related symptoms including bleeding and clotting events.
