Clozapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Eurycoma Longifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for clozapine. Your body relies heavily on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to clear clozapine out of your system. In lab dish studies, tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia) appears to weakly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in a real person, clozapine could clear a bit more slowly and build up, which might mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, drooling, a faster heartbeat, or constipation.

That said, this concern is purely theoretical, seen only in a test tube and never reported in actual patients, and the effect was described as weak. Clozapine is a closely monitored medicine, so even small shifts deserve attention. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding this supplement, and don't change your dose on your own.

What Is Clozapine Used For?

Brand names: Clozaril, Versacloz

Clozapine is used for two specific situations. First, it is prescribed for people with severe schizophrenia who have already tried other antipsychotic medications and have not gotten adequate relief. It is reserved for this group because of its serious risks.

Second, clozapine is used to lower the chances of repeated suicidal behavior in people with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who are considered to be at ongoing, chronic risk. It is not a first-choice medication — it is used when the need is serious and other options have fallen short.
