Dexlansoprazole falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Eurycoma Longifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP2C19 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Dexilant (dexlansoprazole). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C19 to help clear this medicine. In a lab dish, tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia) seemed to weakly slow that same enzyme. If that happened in your body, dexlansoprazole could linger a little longer and its levels might creep up.

Honestly, this is a theoretical concern only. It has never actually been seen in people, and dexlansoprazole is already a very gentle, forgiving drug. Even if levels rose slightly, the worst you'd likely notice is mild stuff like headache, diarrhea, or nausea. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but it's always smart to run any new supplement past your pharmacist or doctor first, especially since tongkat ali products vary so much in quality.

What Is Dexlansoprazole Used For?

Brand name: Dexilant Solutab

Dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules are approved for patients 12 years of age and older for three related conditions. First, they are used to heal erosive esophagitis (EE) — damage to the esophagus lining caused by stomach acid. Second, once the esophagus has healed, they help keep it healed and relieve heartburn. Third, they treat heartburn in people with symptomatic non-erosive GERD (acid reflux that causes symptoms but no visible esophageal damage).

Both Dexilant and dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules carry these same three uses. Treatment durations vary by indication, so follow your prescriber's guidance on how long to take it.
