Why this applies to Fenfluamine

Fenfluamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Eurycoma Longifolia interacts with.

Theoretically, Eurycoma longifolia might increase levels CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that methanolic Eurycoma longifolia root extract weakly inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Fintepla (fenfluramine) and tongkat ali. One enzyme that helps your body clear fenfluramine is called CYP1A2. In lab dish testing, an extract of this herb seemed to weakly slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, fenfluramine could clear a little slower and build up slightly, which in theory could mean more drowsiness, tiredness, loss of appetite, or feeling unsteady. Fenfluramine is active on its own, so it is not a prodrug, and this points toward a mildly stronger effect, not a weaker one.

That said, this is only a theoretical, test-tube finding that has never been shown in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since fenfluramine needs careful dosing and heart monitoring, please run any tongkat ali product by your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Fenfluramine Used For?

Brand name: Fintepla

Fintepla (fenfluramine oral solution) is approved to treat seizures associated with Dravet syndrome (DS) and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) in patients 2 years of age and older. It is used alongside other antiseizure medications.

Both conditions are severe, often hard-to-control forms of epilepsy that typically begin in childhood. Fintepla is available only through a restricted program called the Fintepla REMS because of serious heart-related risks.
