Why this applies to Ivabradine

Ivabradine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.

Theoretically, evodia might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: your body clears ivabradine using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest evodia may slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, ivabradine could build up in your system and hit you harder than intended.

With ivabradine, more drug usually means a slower heart rate. That can show up as feeling lightheaded, dizzy, unusually tired, or noticing those brief flashes of brightness in your vision (called phosphenes). I want to be honest, though: this concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so it's theoretical. Even so, ivabradine isn't a drug to take chances with. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing it with evodia.

Human evidence for these uses is very limited, and it is mostly studied in laboratory and animal research. About Ivabradine

What Is Ivabradine Used For?

Brand names: Procoralan, Coralan, Corlentor, Corlanor

Ivabradine (including the brand Corlanor) is used in adults with stable, symptomatic chronic heart failure with reduced pumping function to reduce the risk of being hospitalized for worsening heart failure. It is prescribed when the heart is beating too fast at rest and the patient is either already on the highest tolerated dose of a beta-blocker or cannot take one.

Corlanor is also approved to treat stable, symptomatic heart failure caused by dilated cardiomyopathy (an enlarged, weakened heart muscle) in children ages 6 months and older who have an elevated heart rate.
