Bisoprolol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the gist for bisoprolol. In a lab dish, False Unicorn appeared to slow down an enzyme called CYP2D6, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear certain beta blockers. If that enzyme is partly blocked, bisoprolol could in theory build up a bit, leading to a stronger effect than expected. That might show up as a heart rate that runs too slow, dizziness or lightheadedness (especially standing up), unusual tiredness, or blood pressure dropping lower than you want.

I'll be honest, though: this is only based on test-tube data, not real people, so it's a theoretical concern. Bisoprolol also leans more on your kidneys for clearance than on CYP2D6, which softens the worry. Still, before adding False Unicorn, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
