Cariprazine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.

Here's the thing with cariprazine (Vraylar): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down and clear it out. In lab tests (test tube only, not in people), False Unicorn seems to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in your body, cariprazine could clear more slowly and build up a bit, which might mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, restlessness, tremor, or feeling jittery.

I want to be honest though, this is theoretical and based only on lab data, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. Cariprazine also sticks around in the body a long time on its own. Before mixing the two, please check with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Cariprazine Used For?

Brand name: Vraylar

Vraylar (cariprazine) is approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and in adolescents aged 13 and older. It is also used for the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults and in children aged 10 and older.

In adults, Vraylar is additionally approved to treat depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression) and as an add-on (adjunctive) therapy alongside antidepressants for major depressive disorder (MDD).
