These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
False Unicorn interacts with whole categories of medication. Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Hydrocodone Bitartrate falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with False Unicorn in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Hydrocodone Bitartrate
Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Hydrocodone Bitartrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the wrinkle with Vituz (chlorpheniramine plus hydrocodone). The hydrocodone part is actually a prodrug of sorts: your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to convert some of it into hydromorphone, a stronger pain-relieving form. False Unicorn, in a lab dish, appears to slow down that same enzyme. So in theory, less of the active form might be made, which could mean less pain relief than you expect.
At the same time, parent hydrocodone could linger a bit, so it's hard to predict the net effect perfectly. The honest part: this is only test-tube evidence, not proven in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, with an opioid product, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Hydrocodone Bitartrate also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Vituz combines hydrocodone (an opioid cough medicine) with the antihistamine chlorpheniramine. Hydrocodone is partly processed by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a lab dish, False Unicorn appears to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let more hydrocodone build up in your body, nudging up its effects like drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, and slowed breathing. The chlorpheniramine already adds its own sleepiness on top.
Here's the honest part: this is based only on test-tube data, not on real people, so we don't know if it actually matters in everyday life. Still, since this product can cause heavy sedation, I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and watch for unusual grogginess.
