Hydrocodone, Pseudoephedrine, Chlorpheniramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group False Unicorn interacts with.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP2D6 substrates. Some of drugs that are CYP2D6 substrates include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and others.

Here's the wrinkle with Zutripro: the hydrocodone part is actually a prodrug. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to turn hydrocodone into hydromorphone, which is the form that does most of the pain relieving. In lab dish studies, False Unicorn seems to slow CYP2D6 down. If that happened in a real person, it could mean less of the strong active form gets made, so you might get weaker pain or cough relief from the hydrocodone than expected.

I want to be honest about how thin the evidence is here. This is based only on test-tube data, not on people, so it's theoretical. Still, since False Unicorn hasn't been well studied for safety, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist before combining the two.

In vitro, false unicorn extract inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, false unicorn might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates. Drugs that might be affected include some calcium channel blockers (diltiazem, nicardipine, verapamil), chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, paclitaxel, vinblastine, vincristine, vindesine), antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole), glucocorticoids, cisapride (Propulsid), alfentanil (Alfenta), fentanyl (Sublimaze), losartan (Cozaar), fluoxetine (Prozac), midazolam (Versed), omeprazole (Prilosec), ondansetron (Zofran), propranolol (Inderal), fexofenadine (Allegra), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for Zutripro, which combines hydrocodone (a narcotic cough/pain reliever), pseudoephedrine (a decongestant), and chlorpheniramine (an antihistamine). The hydrocodone piece relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to be processed. In a lab dish, False Unicorn appeared to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let hydrocodone build up a bit, which might mean more drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, or slowed breathing.

I want to be honest though: this is only test-tube evidence, not something proven in real people, so the actual risk is uncertain. Still, because hydrocodone is an opioid, I'd play it safe. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two rather than guessing.
