Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thinking behind this one. Daclizumab is a lab-made antibody that works by calming down certain immune cells in people with relapsing-remitting MS. Fermented milk products, like yogurt or kefir, contain live probiotics that some studies suggest can gently nudge the immune system to be a bit more active. Since daclizumab is trying to do the opposite (quiet the immune system), the theory is that fermented milk could slightly work against it, possibly making the medication a little less effective.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This is theoretical, based on how things work in the lab, not on real cases of people losing benefit. A serving of yogurt is very unlikely to undo your treatment. If you're eating a lot of probiotic foods or taking concentrated probiotic supplements, just mention it to your neurologist or pharmacist so they can weigh in.
