Esomeprazole, Naproxen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Fo-ti interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that fo-ti may inhibit CYP2C19. An in vitro study suggests that the degree of CYP2C19 inhibition may depend on the type of fo-ti extract (i.e., the raw plant leads to greater inhibition than extensively processed extracts). However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Vimovo is a combo pill, and the part to focus on here is the esomeprazole (the acid-reducing piece). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C19 to clear esomeprazole. Lab and animal studies hint that Fo-ti may slow that enzyme down, which could let esomeprazole build up a bit higher than usual. In plain terms, you might get a slightly stronger or longer-lasting acid-blocking effect. The naproxen side isn't really affected by this particular pathway.
The good news: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never reported in actual people, so it's mostly theoretical. Raw Fo-ti seems to block the enzyme more than processed extracts. Still, since Fo-ti itself has been tied to liver concerns, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining.

In vitro research suggests that fo-ti might inhibit CYP1A2. Additionally, in vitro research suggests that the degree of CYP1A2 inhibition depends on the type of fo-ti extract (i.e., the raw plant leads to greater inhibition than extensively processed extracts). However, in an animal study, an aqueous extract of fo-ti inhibited CYP1A2 while an alcoholic extract of fo-ti induced CYP1A2. Induction or inhibition of CYP1A2 by fo-ti has not been reported in humans.

Naproxen is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, and lab studies hint that Fo-ti might slow that enzyme down. In theory, if naproxen clears more slowly, levels could creep up, which might mean more of its usual side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, fluid retention, or, with heavier use, kidney or bleeding concerns.
Here's the honest part: this is only test-tube and animal data, and the effect went both ways depending on the Fo-ti extract. Nothing like this has been shown in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, since Fo-ti has been tied to liver injury and naproxen can be hard on the stomach, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

However, this evidence conflicts with animal research suggesting that fo-ti does not inhibit CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Vimovo combines naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever) with esomeprazole (a stomach-acid blocker). Naproxen by itself can thin the blood a little and irritate the stomach lining, so bleeding is already something we watch for with it. The concern here is mostly about your liver. Fo-ti has been tied to rare cases of liver injury, and a damaged liver makes fewer clotting factors. If that happens while you are taking naproxen, your risk of bleeding (think stomach upset, dark stools, easy bruising, or nosebleeds) could go up.
This is based on scattered case reports, not strong studies, so I am not trying to alarm you. Still, please run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them, and let them know right away if you notice yellowing skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual bleeding.
