Here's the gist: propranolol already lowers blood pressure and slows the heart. Some lab and animal studies suggest gentian can relax blood vessels and nudge blood pressure down a little too. In theory, stacking the two could add up and leave blood pressure on the low side, which might show up as lightheadedness, tiredness, a slower pulse, or feeling faint when standing up.

I want to be honest, though: this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube and animal research, not on people. For most healthy adults, an occasional taste of bitters before meals is unlikely to cause trouble. Since propranolol solution is often given to babies for hemangiomas, please don't combine anything new without first checking with your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Propranolol (Infantile Hemangioma) Used For?

Brand name: Hemangeol

This intravenous (IV) form of propranolol is used in hospital settings to treat serious, life-threatening heart rhythm problems. It works on several types of abnormal rhythms, including those that happen during anesthesia or are caused by drug toxicity.

Specific uses include fast heart rhythms coming from the upper chambers of the heart (supraventricular tachycardia), dangerous rhythms caused by too much digitalis in the body, and certain fast rhythms triggered by excess stress hormones (catecholamines) during surgery.
