Amphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group German Chamomile interacts with.

Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP2D6 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP2D6. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking German chamomile.

Here's the gist: part of how your body clears amphetamine relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Lab studies hint that German chamomile may slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in real life, amphetamine could hang around a little longer and build up, which might mean a stronger or more prolonged effect, things like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, reduced appetite, or feeling wired.

Now the reassuring part: this is only seen in test tube studies, not in actual people, so it's theoretical. A cup of chamomile tea now and then is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated chamomile supplements are the bigger question mark. If you use chamomile regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're feeling.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
