Capmatinib Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group German Chamomile interacts with.

Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking German chamomile.

Here's the gist for anyone on Tabrecta (capmatinib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this cancer medication down and clear it out. In lab studies, German chamomile appears to slow that same enzyme. If that played out in real life, capmatinib could build up a bit more in your system, which may mean stronger side effects like nausea, vomiting, swelling, tiredness, or changes in liver blood tests.

That said, this is theoretical. It's only been seen in test-tube research, not in actual patients, and an occasional cup of chamomile tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Still, because capmatinib is a serious cancer drug, please run any chamomile supplements or regular tea use past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

Tabrecta (capmatinib) is used to treat adults with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) — lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. It is only for patients whose tumors have a specific genetic change called a MET exon 14 skipping mutation, which must be confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting treatment.
