In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP2D6. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 in patients taking German chamomile.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the quick picture if you're taking enasidenib (Idhifa) for your AML and sipping German chamomile tea. Chamomile has a plant compound that, in test-tube studies, can slow down a liver enzyme called CYP2D6. Enasidenib is partly broken down by this enzyme, so in theory, blocking it could let a little more of the drug build up in your body. That might mean slightly stronger effects or more side effects, like nausea, low appetite, or changes in your blood counts and bilirubin.
The honest truth is this is only a lab-based, theoretical concern. It has never actually been reported in real patients, and occasional chamomile tea is unlikely to cause a problem. Still, because enasidenib is a serious cancer drug, please run any chamomile supplements or regular tea use past your oncology team or pharmacist first.

Here's the situation with your chamomile tea and Idhifa (enasidenib). Your body partly clears enasidenib using a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In lab testing, German chamomile appears to slow that same enzyme down a bit. If it slowed it in your body too, more enasidenib could linger, which in theory might nudge up its side effects, things like nausea, diarrhea, low appetite, or changes in your blood counts and liver labs.
I want to be honest: this is only a theoretical concern from test-tube work, and it has never actually been reported in people. An occasional cup of chamomile tea is unlikely to be a problem. Because this is a serious leukemia drug, please give your oncology team or pharmacist a quick heads-up before adding chamomile, especially as a concentrated supplement.

Here's the short version: your body partly clears enasidenib (Idhifa) using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In a test tube, German chamomile appears to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that same effect happened in people, enasidenib could clear a little more slowly and build up, which in theory might mean stronger effects or more side effects like nausea, diarrhea, low appetite, or changes in your blood counts and liver labs.
The reassuring part: this is theoretical, based only on lab studies, and has never actually been reported in real patients. An occasional cup of chamomile tea is unlikely to be a big deal, but concentrated capsules or extracts are a bigger question mark. Here's the basic idea with German chamomile and your leukemia medication, Idhifa (enasidenib). Chamomile may gently slow down a liver enzyme called CYP1A2, which helps process certain drugs. In theory, slowing that enzyme could let a drug build up a little higher than usual, meaning slightly stronger effects or more side effects.
For enasidenib specifically, this is very much a theoretical concern. The signal comes only from lab and animal studies, and it has never actually been reported in people. On top of that, enasidenib isn't mainly cleared through CYP1A2, so a cup of chamomile tea is unlikely to cause trouble. Idhifa (enasidenib) is used to treat adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-moving cancer of the blood and bone marrow — whose disease has come back after treatment (relapsed) or has stopped responding to treatment (refractory). It is specifically for patients whose leukemia has a mutation in the IDH2 gene, which must be confirmed by an FDA-approved test before starting therapy.
